I bought this 5 lb jar of honey at the farmer's market in Waukesha for $25. With the way honey prices are right now, I was pretty psyched. The first jar I bought was $23, but I gave it to my parents because my dad loves honey and was totally eyeing it up. When they went home, they left me some cash and a note that said, "Honey Money, Honey." Haha.

Karlye! Best idea EVER! Uff-da!
ReplyDeleteI will definitely contribute to this soon. Working at a Food Bank and doing gleaning has given me all sorts of food-related thoughts and ideas. However...the corn and apples won't glean themselves, so I'll post when I can catch a break!
Awesome! I'd really love to hear your thoughts and stories, Dorothy. Good luck gleaning!
ReplyDeleteOn the note of honey...my uncle swears by this. He says, buy local honey and you will become more immune to allergens from your area. It makes sense - the bees are playing around in the flowers, and when you take that stuff in your honey, then your body can make antibodies to that stuff. Well, of course, it makes sense to me, the astronomer, but let's ask Dr. Karlye...
ReplyDeleteIt does make sense! I think. You're going to have to wait another 7+ years to ask Dr. Karlye, though... But I'm sure your uncle is right on. I will continue buying massive amounts of local honey.
